Rolf Nesch (1893-1975) was one of the great graphic innovators of the 20th century, particularly known for his invention of the so called “metalprint” technique. Works by Nesch can be found in museums in Stuttgard, Hamburg, London (British Museum), New York (MoMA), Oslo – just to mention some. On Rolf Nesch, three books have been published so far: a monograph, published in Norway, and two books on Nesch’s graphic works, published in Germany. This catalogue raisonné is a long-awaited survey of Nesch’s graphic works and the result of years of extensive research carried out in close collaboration with the artist’s family, whose large collection, in addition to the museum’s, constitutes a major source.
